The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) is a statutory body constituted under an Act of Parliament and is responsible for regulating the electricity sector at the central level, including matters relating to electricity markets, tariffs and inter-State electricity transmission.
Post Details
CERC has invited applications for Joint Chief (Legal), Deputy Chief (Legal), Assistant Chief (Legal) and Bench Officer positions in its Legal Division. The vacancies are to be filled on deputation / Foreign Service terms / short-term contract basis from eligible officers of Central or State Governments, Public Sector Undertakings and Autonomous Bodies.
• Handle judicial, quasi-judicial and legal matters
• Assist with proceedings, petitions and pleadings
• Research and compile relevant case laws
• Handle legal and regulatory matters before appropriate forums
• Assist in preparation and management of legal documentation
• Support CERC's Legal Division in electricity regulatory and related legal matters
• Law degree / relevant legal qualification as prescribed for the respective post
• Candidates must fulfil the prescribed qualifying service requirements for the post
• Joint Chief (Legal): Officers holding analogous posts or prescribed experience at Pay Levels 12/11
• Deputy Chief (Legal): Officers holding analogous posts or prescribed service at Pay Levels 11/10
• Assistant Chief (Legal): Officers holding analogous posts or prescribed service at Pay Levels 10/8/7
• Bench Officer: Officers meeting the prescribed qualifying service requirements
• Specialisation in Regulations / Master's Degree in Law is preferred for the relevant legal positions
• Relevant experience in judicial, quasi-judicial and legal matters is required.
