The Department of Space (DOS), under the Government of India, is responsible for formulating and executing national space policies and programmes. Its activities include development of space transportation systems, satellite technologies, communication and navigation systems, remote sensing applications, space science research, planetary exploration, and promotion of private participation in the global space sector. These functions are carried out through various centres, units, and autonomous bodies across India.
Handling legal cases related to Government of India service matters
Dealing with litigation before CAT, High Courts, and Supreme Court
Advising on matters relating to public procurement, arbitration, and service rules
Assisting in drafting, reviewing, and vetting legal documents
Providing legal opinions and advisory support to the Department
Maintaining records of cases, judgments, and legal documentation
Graduation in Law from a recognised university in India (regular mode)
Computer knowledge is mandatory
Age: Less than 63 years as on 1 January 2026
Experience:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in handling legal cases, particularly service matters related to Government of India
Desirable experience in CAT / High Court / Supreme Court cases involving service rules, public procurement, arbitration, etc.
Retired Central Government employees (Under Secretary rank) with law degree and legal section experience are also eligible
